Taking inspiration from the poem-maps along the Swahili coast, the soundscape takes a route out from Xamar, Somalia, along three historic routes to Lamu, Oman and Hormuz.
The tale follows a speculative tale with a sailor aboard the Mareel. A pearling ship that reappears in my wider film world.
The journey weaves in myths and encounters with beings like the jinn and the melmedas. And the "blood rain" of Hormuz. It also features a Hayat a song sung on the Somali coast for missing ships, and a traditional Iranian fisher song referencing former trade destinations like Somalia.
